Martin Cooper is an alias used on all the CDs Gilbert made. Asia 2001 has been producing music since the beginning of the last century's decade,
and has actually been around since the expression "trance music" was first used.
Asia 2001 comes from the south of France, where he produces most of his music at his private studio,
"The Stargate". Martin Cooper is the man Behind Asia 2001. He has also been producing as Loren-X,
with releases and albums on R&S, Polygram, F-Com, Distance and more.
Martin Cooper has established Trans'Pact Productions back in 1992 with his wife Thaisha,
and shortly after that, released 'Fly in Rajasthan', that became a hymn at that time.
Trans'Pact went on and released dozens of singles and albums, including Spectral's and Transwave's first singles,
followed by the massive release 'Goa Exit'. Martin Cooper has collaborated with numerous DJs and artists,
and in 1996 produced the first Toires album for Florian Seriot.
The breakthrough came after 'Lunar Attraction' 12'' on Koyote and the debut Asia 2001 album 'Ra'.
In 1997 Asia 2001 was signed to Avatar Records, and in 1998 released the mega album 'Ama Zone',
followed by 'Dreamland'. Both albums were a massive success worldwide, and were picked up not only by trance lovers.
'Abduction' was a more club trance oriented album, and was released after the 12'' EP 'X-Ray' that was widely played across Europe and NY.
Asia 2001 has secured his place as one of the most popular and outstanding Goa Trance acts in the world,
with live appearances in Berlin's Love Parade, all over Europe, Israel and Canada. He took New York and LA in a storm,
with gigs in top clubs like Limelight and Tunnel, and appearances with leading artists including Carl Cox, Robert Leiner,
Laurent Garnier, Jeff Miles amongs others. The latest album 'Amnesia' (2 CD), including re-mastered rare works and hits,
was released in 2005 and concludes 10 years of activity.
Asia 2001 continues to be one of the leading and most requested trance acts there is.

You seem to be a quite discreet person but you are such an icon of the goa trance movement

ANSWER:I'm Thevenet Gilbert, born 17/05/69. I'm a producer of electronic music and have a passion for alpine skiing. 02/31-QUESTION:Why did you choose to call yourself Asia 2001? What is this project? ANSWER:I cannot explain, the number 2001 has always intrigued me.
Perhaps I had a feeling that in 2001, something would happen. And Afghanistan is in Asia Minor, isn't it? 03/31-QUESTION:Have you received a musical education before becoming Asia 2001? ANSWER:No, I haven't received any musical training. 04/31-QUESTION:When and how did you discover goa trance?

told me that it would be better not to sign under my real name my albums for the control at the airport.
It would have been better nobody knew who really was Asia 2001 because the authorities wanted to eradicate this movement,
but now I think it's different. 10/31-QUESTION:What was your first real project? If I take into account the year, I'll bet on Loren-X (1992). ANSWER:Yes that's right! 11/31-QUESTION:Can you tell me if the CD "Live" appeared in 1996 is a real live set played in a party or if it is just the name of an album? ANSWER:Yes it is a true liveset that I recorded in the south of France in 96. 12/31-QUESTION:At the time, there was no internet. How did you manage to be known around? ANSWER:I got famous thanks to my released and probably for the unique sound/style of my music. 13/31-QUESTION:What was the goal of your Trans'pact Productions label? It sounds more trance that goa. Why is it so different from the other albums? ANSWER:I know I made a mistake on that album and Abduction was not a great success.
I would say that 2001 was in fact a bad year for me ... 15/31-QUESTION:After 2001 (Loren-X remix), 1666 (Loren-X remix), Zeta Reticulli (Jarod mix) are all three remixes.
Do you have the original versions? ANSWER:I'm not sure, they are so old. 16/31-QUESTION:Is Orion by Red Aum is the first version of Orion 2?
Can you also tell me if Vertigo by Koma Club is the first version of Vertigo (Paradiso mix)? ANSWER:Yes, I seem to remember that it was Goa Gill who had asked me at the time to do these remixes.

You seem to spend time only in your own musical universe.

Спасибо! Довольно приятная музыка. С повальным опопсением современной транс сцены, решил попробовать пси и гоа транс, как будто открыл для себя новый мир. Очень динамическая музыка, в отличии от классического транса, который последние лет 7-8 стал уныл и однообразен чуть более чем полностью, да новая мода на запилы дабстепа превратила этот вид жанра в скуку под звуки циркулярки. ИМХО.

Вы явно ошиблись разделом. Это специфический, уникальный стиль Псайхеделик Транса,
с которым связано целое музыкальное движение, 'Культ' Эзотерика в музыке.
Первые альбомы Купера действительно уникальны. Да, моментами с похожими друг на друга композициями и ремиксами на них.
Но это не портит целостность всего замысла. Такую музыку уже не пишут. Ибо сейчас в основном коммерция.
Очень поддерживаю лэйблы DAT Records, Anjuna, Zion 604, которые реализуют анрелизы, тем самым не дают пасть в забытье материалы,
о которых мы даже и не мечтали, да что там говорить, даже и не знали.

Simon-n-G, скорее всего, вы не видите суть компоновки трекинга.. Да, со стороны обычного обывателя - это "тыц-тыц.." (таким макаром можно всю Электронику описать..), но не каждому дано почувствовать и ощутить вливание гармоничных семплов в определённый аккомпанемент.. И для создания Музыки не важно какое-либо образование - нужна суть, излагаемая композитором от Души, не движимая всякими бренными материальными ценностями.. По сему, соглашусь с Лареном, - это не ваш раздел..
Ни когда не понимал "эзотерической" состовляющей гоа-транса. Если его взДОБрить чем-то или вы адепт индуизма, тогда все с вами понятно, конечно.... Так изотерикой может накрыть в любой момент, даже услышав Киркорова в маршрутке.
Очень интересно как для вас проявляется эта самая - эзотерика, прослушивая Азию? Возможно, что не все правильно понимают передаваемый вами смысл. Simon-n-G
Этот олень есть если ни лучшее, что было в гоа-трансе, так уж точно один из... Гнев, все еще активных, мамонтов эзотериков тебе обеспечен. Если пробуешь и эксперементируешь, то не стоит при не удачном опыте закидывать какашками чужой монастырь. Включи лучше привычный тебе релиз от маэстро и вуаля!
"эзотерическая" составляющая гоа транса - не говорю в общем, это лично мои ощущения.
Услышав впервые, именно Гоа Транс вовлёк меня во всё это уже много много лет, - космос, жизнь на других планетах,
их духовность, связь с нами и всё такое. Слушая транс и погружаясь в него, будто приоткрывается какая то дверь,
по ту сторону реальности, куда очень интересно заглянуть.
Ритмичность каждого бита, семпла, закручиваясь в мелодии композиции,
заставляет двигаться каждую клеточку организма, это потрясающие ощущения)
Знающие трансеры меня поймут.
А что такое вообще Музыка? Это частично материализованная фантазия композитора.. (Российской "поп-эстрады" и репа-подобных болтологий это не касается) Нотный стан не указывает происхождение семплов, он лишь показывает длительность, размерность и тональность звучания..Я впервые познакомился с Trance-Музыкой в 1995, благодаря кассете (RaveLand-1), выпущенной пиратским лейблом Getian (с Techno в 1992, благодаря кассете, переписанной с вертушки).. Trance-Музыка - это не просто "тыц-тыц", это полёт собственной фантазии по руслу, реализованному композитором определённого трека..
