The Nautilus Project
THE NAUTILUS PROJECT The Nautilus Project, firstly conceptualized by various music orientations, was successfully launched on the 6th of May in 2008 after a long-winded time between a plenty of thoughts, visions and decisions how to create and to pass own mind-based music into reality. The main intention is a reflection of feelings and impressions due to an emotional passion of electronic sounds in every way, generating unique music by a lot of inspirations of different artists. Thereby the project is mainly based on deep and liquid sounds of Dub/Tech & Mindspace Electronica, strongly influenced by powerful delays, expressive effects and atmospheric ocean themes.
Nemo, the artist of this project himself, had started his music career as a DJ, acting between national & international clubs within the dark electro scene. Solidifying his own style, he did this work more and more digitally and recorded a lof of Nonstop-Mixes, when his heart became addicted to the roots of the Techno he heard in his youth. But it was not enough for him to hear and mix the sounds, he would want to produce his own tracks.
In such a way, he formed "The Nautilus Project" by adding the well-known ship name as a match to transport his idea. The substance of this music you are about to hear is not related to any stuff of Jules Verne's novels except the names of "Nemo" and "Nautilus". The artist's pseudonym is an insider dedication of his youth, in which he merged since he was 14 years old. Grad_U Grad_U is a DJ and Producer from Vilnius, Lithuania. He starts his career at the age of 13 in 1997. After some time of exploring electronic sounds and going deep into various kind of music Grad_U begins play as DJ on public. He takes a part of many local parties and festivals. But after some time of just DJing Grad_U feels, that he wants to do more, he wants to express himself through the own sound and a little bit later in the year of 2001 he represents his first tracks in his DJset. And as longer he goes deep into creating and searching new sounds as stronger becomes his passion to music creation. INN-R Maybe lost in space, the anonymous "Inn-R" project has preciously kept is initial tool with him. Only equipped of a GPS found in his early year, he has travelled in different countries to deliver soul and spirit of a not so binary music. When the world was completely built of electronic component and evolved to a cold and dark atmosphere, he was suspected to spread some dangerous ideas by the mass. At this time, he always used and broadcast messages from the resistance, from affiliated members, official or not, and from friends, by keeping in mind that a succession of 1 and 0 must be a real code. In spite of this unique and praiseworthy goal he was more and more misunderstood, facing tidal wave of formatted creation. To escape this, he reinforces his activities, with the help of some close pioneers. The dangerous mission still brings few persons from different places of the earth. And all this forces work hard under a collective project unified around the same pseudo. However, the blinkers and conditioning are more and more present and detained this action to reach a larger audience. Rooms for manoeuvre are so narrow that he has no other choice that to escape the earth. After few months dedicated to salvage fundamentalist elements, he has combined enough materials to build his spatial capsule lab. By this way, he finds again the infinite possibilities of sound combinations, of past, present and future mixture, and the essence of creativity. He starts now his sub-spatial transmissions from the very heart of space, from one galaxy to another… To the world where he grown, where he hope to come back when the barriers and chains will be broken forever. Upwellings
UPWELLINGS Upwellings is a project started in early 2008, with the idea to create minimal techno influenced by dub and productions from Germany: Basic Channel, and also from other labels: as M-nus, Minibar, Perlon, Scape, Cadenza etc ...
The goal was to minimize production tools, with just an analog synthesizer, a vocoder and a drum machine. Edited and mixed with ProTools, sound of Upwellings can be characterized by a certain sobriety of textures. Very focused on rhythmic aspect and dub productions, Upwellings cultivates a deep techno approach, using low deep bass, echoes roots, harmonic and ethereal textures.
It is therefore an invitation to travel proposed by Upwellings, a journey into the dark and unknown depths of the cold currents of ocean floor (the upwellings), where is good to be lost to better emerge and to glimpse the light. A while blue music coming from ambient to techno, to some more electro things, jazzy or agitated (dancefloor oriented), according to the weather, currents and explored areas...
Quickly spotted by netlabels (via myspace), in 2008, Upwellings produces "No End" on "Perfect Lifeform" compilation for Deepindub. Will follow a series of EPs on Schall-netlabel, Klique and Zeecc.
Upwellings is a project that is also dedicated to live performances and which can find its place in different settings, from the small bar rather with club atmosphere, to larger scenes (concert halls, festivals...) for while rising sets... keep head above water?!?!!... myspace.com/upwellings
